we have 32 inch samsung lcd tv – which dvd player to get?
we bought this new tv, but the dvd’s played on our 2 year old dvd player (pioneer), look out of colour and dark scenes are unwatchable all together. the dvd player has no HDMI so we bought a very expensive scart. i tried to remove any cables near the tv and also switched of all surrounding electrical equipment. but no luck.
i guess we need to buy another dvd player, especially if we want to watch HD films. any suggestions? also, how important would blu ray compatibility be?

I have just purchased a Sony DVD/HDD player recorder. It has a hard drive to record on or you can record and play back on disk. Picture quality is so good on recording that it is better than the actual received programme. Cost around £200 to £250 depends where you buy. Highly recommend it.
If you want to watch HD Films then you’re not looking for a DVD Player, you’re looking for a Blu Ray player. And to be honest, if you’re going to spend £200 upwards on a DVD Player you may as well get a BluRay player (they can also play DVDs) or even better, a PS3.
Blu Ray is the new generation rig. To watch HD dvd’s u need HDMI compatible dvd player. Just using convertors wont help much. I recommend getting one of sony’s, just browse through many products sony have.
If you may like, try getting a ps3 console, that will give you access to one the most powerful gaming console, blu ray reader, a HDD and HDMI output, undoubtedly best gadget out there.
Bascially your choice will be based on whether or not blu ray, this is a choice you have to make, i will give you my feedback on my blu ray experience, i am not able to yet observe the difference between blu ray and HD dvd playback.
I have a ps3 console + Sony LCD .
Ya…i would definately scrap the old DVD player and either get a 1080p upconverting DVD player or Blu-ray! Which one you get is up to you and depends on how much you’re willing to pay.
To be honest, your not really going to notice a difference in pic quality on a TV that size anyway! I would save money and get a very decent upconverting DVD player for about $50-$150!!!
Hi, with Pioneer dvd players (when using scart) you need to change the video output to ‘RGB’. That shoud get you better colours and definition. Alternatively look at this:
It’s a cracker for less that £200
